When Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal appeared to St. Catherine Laboure for the first time she was wearing a white dress and a blue veil. These colors are incorporated into this special Miraculous Medal rosary which was commissioned by our good friends at the Missionary of the Poor (M.O.P.). This religious order, dedicated to serving the poorest of the poor, was founded in 1981 by Father Richard Ho Lung. There are currently nine missions around the world where the brothers work and serve - and one mission is located close to our headquarters.
One day a few of the brothers came and took a tour to see how our rosaries are made. During the visit, Brother Marc asked if a special rosary could be made for the M.O.P. brothers, a rosary that was white and blue. It would not only be a reminder of Our Lady (who is Patroness of the M.O.P), but also of the M.O.P. brothers whose habits are white with a blue cincture. The final design features white magnesite decade beads and blue stained wood Our Father beads. Unfortunately, Brother Marc died unexpectedly just a few months after his visit and he never saw the beautiful rosary he helped to design.
We offer this Miraculous Medal rosary in memory of Brother Marc. The white beads represent purity while the wooden beads remind us of the needs of the poor and brothers who serve them.
